Isabel and Firewire support - 2008/10/01 17:56 Isabel support for IEEE 1394 (Firewire) interface comes from the compatibility provided by Linux video interface.
Isabel supports video signal through video4linux standard, and there's no direct support for video coming from Firewire.
However, there is a mechanism called video loopback that allows to connect a Firewire device to a video4linux port, as it is explained in:

http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/VideoFourLinuxLoopbackDevice

In order to test functionality of this workaround, it is recommended to first check with another video4linux application, like Ekiga, a SIP client, to see local video, or mplayer, ffmpeg, xawtv, camstream, etc.
