Mobile web in developing countries will be one of the topics in the seminar where audience could know more about mobile web and its importance in developing countries. While more and more people are using the Web, a significant number of people still do not have regular, effective access and ability to use digital technologies. This is known as the "Digital Divide". It is fundamental to understand the needs and the expectations of the people, and the specific challenges and issues of accessing the Web from a mobile phone as a primary and often sole platform, so that the potential of resolving the gap becomes reality. For this purpose, W3C, with the support of its Mobile Web Initiative, decided to investigate this area and to understand what should be its role in participating in the effort of bridging the digital divide.

Two new areas within W3C, e-Government and video on the web, are also included in the program. The Web has become the main channel for governments to deliver services to citizens and Web technologies are crucial in the relationships between governments, and governments and industry. W3C aims to understand specific government and citizens’ needs related to eGovernment services, identify aspects that put Web interoperability at risk and find how governments can deliver better and more efficient services through computer technologies.

More and more we are seeing video on the Web used for advertising, enterprise collaboration, entertainment, product reviews, and other applications. Make video a first class Web citizen, including making it easy to create, link to and from, describe, and search is one of the W3C goals. Making video a first class Web citizen will involve addressing issues of
accessibility, internationalization, privacy, digital rights, performance, and device-independence.
